Washington, Pennsylvania Faces Deficit with Land Value Tax
Not many elected officials understand LVT, but Mayor Spossey and Washington's Council do. A budget deficit this year will be plugged with an increase on land values only.
Normally, we'd disagree with an increase on the local income tax, but the case can be made that it's necessary as so many workers are from out of town and work for hospitals, universities, etc. that do not pay their share of property tax. Luckily, the bulk of the increase is on land values only.
