Value Capture Quantified down on the bayou

New York? Chicago? San Francisco? Nope, Alexandria, Louisiana

The City of Alexandria, Louisiana is spending a lot of money on transport and infrastructural improvements. How are they going to pay for it in relatively impoverished place? Land Value Capture

is  in the house.

It's high time that in hard times especially that taxpayers are not burdened by the cost of huge transport projects and those that get wealthy in their sleep - the landowners - get to pocket the proceeds on increased land values.  It's a good first step to a public finance model that captures all of the unearned increment of publicly-created value.

The leverage sought will use existing business activity and development to increase surrounding land values and create housing opportunities. The City will capitalize on value capture models with significant public investment into special and even ideal infrastructure. This corridor can demonstrate mixed opportunity on a grand scale.
