The Center for the Study of Economics is a 501 (c) 3 non-profit tax educational foundation, established in 1980 as the sister organization of the Henry George Foundation of America. 

We study the impact of LVT on a community, as well as providing technical assistance in implementation and tax administration. Where appropriate, the Center will promote the adoption of LVT.

Many towns and cities across the USA again have their eyes on New London, Connecticut as the city prepares its plan for LVT.

This month, the city of New London which won its effort to get state legislative and gubernatorial permission to enact land value taxation awaits the preparation of the pland that the City council will recommend. As the current statute says: 

"Office of Policy and Management pursuant to subsection (b) of this section, the chief executive officer of such municipality shall appoint a committee consisting of relevant taxpayers and stakeholders to prepare a plan for implementation of land value taxation." 

UrbanTools eagerly awaits the decision on which option the committee will choose.  Stay tuned, as this fine city turns from the long-time twin issues of  Kelo v. New London and Pfizer to a plan that assists the entire city in both helping its hard-pressed taxpayers and encourages the economic recovery to find a home on the Thames River.
