The New London Day is continuing its editorial campaign for land value taxation.

New London, Connecticut and Land Value Tax: A Lively Debate in Local Media

New London Ledge

Warning against "vested interests" the Day - with a circulation of about 100,000 -  made the case for a Pilot Program to see if land value taxation would be a viable and long-term solution to the Whaling City's decades-long experience of disinvestment, downtown decline and depopulation(page13-15).

A lively debate has broken out on the editorial web page, and reflects the debate that has been ongoing in the city itself since 2007.  The state legislature passed  and Governor Jody Rell signed legislation at the request of the New London City Council and legislative delegation to enact the land value tax program (complete testimony and the bill can be seen on our sister site OurCommonWealth)

UrbanTools will keep you abreast of the action on the ground as citizens and their government work for a city that is rich in potential both human, social and economic.
