A reporter from the Philadelphia City Paper made some observations about the first in a series of council hearings on the recession/doomsday budget proposed by Mayor Michael Nutter. The reporter, Isiah Thompson gave a shout out to what he thought was an idea worthy of further exploration; gee, yeah, the land value tax.
People may be surprised that lofty ideas of economic justice and fairness can be formulated into a "shovel ready" policy, but that's what the research of the Center, disseminated by the Henry George Foundation has done.
