The Center for the Study of Economics is a 501 (c) 3 non-profit tax educational foundation, established in 1980 as the sister organization of the Henry George Foundation of America. 

We study the impact of LVT on a community, as well as providing technical assistance in implementation and tax administration. Where appropriate, the Center will promote the adoption of LVT.

SB379 passed the Senate last week and sits near the front of the House Calendar. Passage and the signature Governor Rell we hope,. are soon to follow

The New London Day pubished this article explaining the pilot project natureof the bill, which will permit New London to enact LVT.  the bill was modified somewhat in the legislative process; with oppostion from groups that specialize in using land in urban settings in the most unintensive way possible. More to follow.

The bill also received support from Sen. Andrew Maynard, D-Stonington, and New London's two state representatives, Democrats Ernest Hewett and Edward Moukawsher, who are co-sponsors. It now proceeds to the House of Representatives.
